The Show Must Go On - or You Might Wish it Had!

"File Not Found!" is one of the most terrifying phrases in any language. It is particularly terrifying if your boss is expecting that file to show up in the next five minutes!
Servers fail, drives crash, network cards die, power supplies produce smoke instead of volts. All that is as unavoidable as it is regrettable. But when a failure disrupts the business the situation changes from regrettable to troublesome - instantly!

This Show Goes On - Automatically

When Twisted Storage stores a file a policy-driven workflow governs how many copies are made, where they are stored, what media is used, how long it will be retained, and every other aspect of storing the file.
The default policy within Twisted Storage is to automatically make two copies of every file and store them on separate servers and drives. The default policy-driven workflow can be modified to make any number of copies and to store them on any drive on any server in the Twisted Storage system. The workflow can even store some of the copies on a Twisted Storage Server Node at a remote location for an additional level of safety.
Additional policies can be created that apply different workflows based on file attributes such as: file type, file size, owner, user, metadata, and even file content.

No More "File Not Found!"

When a user asks to retrieve the file Twisted Storage immediately finds an available copy and delivers it. The user never knows, and does not need to know, whether it came from a server down the hall or across the continent or whether some server was down or one of the copies of the file corrupted - Twisted Storage takes care of all those details and business continues without interruption.
A malfunctioning or inaccessible server is reported to the SysAdmin for repair or remediation. Once fixed, the server is returned to normal operation within the system. Corrupted files are automatically rebuilt on another drive to preserve the mandated number of copies.
